Citing influences such as Greg Howe, Tony MacAlpine, and Richie Kotzen, Todd Rose is a 30 year old guitarist who from 1994 to 1999 performed extensively throughout the tri-state area and northeast with the CT based progressive-rock band Soundscape. Their thunderous live-shows, four part vocal harmonies, and musical virtuosity earned them comparisons with progressive giants such as "Yes", "Kansas", and "Dream Theater". They have performed with artists such as "King's X", "Fates Warning", "Savatage","King Diamond", and "Echolyn", as well as at various pro-rock and prog-metal festivals. These include "Prog-Day-98" in Chapel Hill, NC, "Powermad 97-98-99" and "Orion Studios Progressive Rock Showcase" in Baltimore, MD.
Todd recorded two full length CDs and one EP with Soundscape: "Discovery"(1997), "Grave New World"(1998) (unreleased), and "Man & Machine" EP(1999). He also performed on Rob Thorne Volpintesta's epic rock opera "America the Beautiful"(1995) (double cd) and Thorne's Shakespearean inspired rock opera "Iago"(1998). Other recordings in which Todd can be heard include the rerelease of "Sacred Oath's" "A Crystal Vision" ( 2001) and on a several multi-band tribute albums and live compilations such as "Through Different Eyes", (Fates Warning tribute 1999) (see discography page for album covers and Label information.)
An active instructor, Todd has taught consistently since 1990 and in 1996 produced an instructional video entitled "Fretboard Fusion" to help his advanced students to learn how to integrate soloing techniques so as to "fuse" the fretboard together.
Todd has also been active in other areas of the music industry as an endorser and clinician for "Brian Moore Custom Guitars". He has appeared and performed at music trade shows such as the "Thoroughbred Music Supershow-97" in Tampa, FL,"Winter NAMM-98" in Los Angeles, CA and "Summer NAMM-98" in Nashville, TN. He has also performed guitar-clinics such as one sponsored by Brian Moore Guitars at "The East Coast Music Mall" in Danbury, CT. He has also been known to give "mini-clinics" at many of his performances... in the van, the parking lot, bathrooms you name it!
Todd has appeared in dozens of music publications (see Press page) including a full-page, full-color advertisement in "20th Century Guitar" Magazine for Brian Moore Guitars. That same year Todd also appeared in their 1998 "Artist-User" catalog along side world renowned guitarists Al Pitrelli, Russ Freemen, Clint Black, and John Goodsall. Todd has also studied advanced improvisation with internationally acclaimed fusion guitarist Greg Howe.
Todd is currently recording and performing with the CT Symphonic-Progressive band "Spectre" and can be heard on their debut cd "Dreamland." He also teaches at an area music school as well as privately. He is available for advanced lessons and for recording session work in the Tri-state area.
